Herman Miller Aeron

It’s a chair. The armrest bolts snap.

Armrest #

This is the classic Aeron, the one where the arms slide up and down and lock with a hand-tightened knob. The bolts snap after prolonged use.

I’ve used this listing (opens in a new tab) before for replacement parts. It’s $40 which is incredibly steep. It includes:

  • Bolt
  • Knob
  • Washer
  • Ball bearing
  • Plastic arm guard
  • Friction clamp
  • Metal bar

Reddit (opens in a new tab) (archived (opens in a new tab)) eventually produced the useful answer: the bolt is a standard 1/4"-28 × 2-1/2" fastener. Lowe’s, Home Depot, Menards (opens in a new tab), or any decent hardware store should have one.
